Tree Swallows nest at a number of sites in the Meadowlands and Hackensack River watershed every spring. In order, to accommodate them, MCT is seeking donated bird boxes or a group that is willing to make the boxes as a community service project.
Meadowlands Conservation Trust Executive Director Tina Schvejda, volunteers Don Smith and Dennis Schvejda walked a portion of the Richard P. Kane Natural Area to assess completed and pending work on several breaches in an historic berm protecting the tract and surrounding properties from tidal flooding.

Earlier this autumn, 48 New Jersey trail projects received a total of $833,109 in funding from the Federal Highway Administration’s Recreational Trails Program.
