Tina Schvejda has been a conservationist, activist, supporter and defender of the environment for decades. As land acquisition manager of the Morris Land Conservancy, Ms. Schvejda oversaw a territory that encompassed six northern New Jersey counties and was able to negotiate and complete land transactions for over a thousand acres into some type of permanent preservation during her four years there. As the NJ State Chapter Chair for Sierra Club, Ms. Schvejda directed the executive and sub committees. In December of 2003, Ms. Schvejda was brought onto the Meadowlands Conservation Trust where she actively pursues and oversees land conservation projects.

Laura Machuca is the Special Assistant to the Executive Director. After teaching math and bilingual education for 3 years in the New Jersey public school system, she became involved in corporate events and public relations. Today, Ms. Machuca is using her eclectic experience and skills to support the environmental pursuits of the Trust and she is working on a master’s degree in school counseling. She hopes to make a deep impact by way of inculcating environmentalism into the education and development of children.
